SID GRIFFITH'S BIOGRAPHY

Hi, I’m Sid and I’m 13 years old.  

I compete in canoe slalom.  I do two categories: Canoe (kneeling in the boat with one paddle blade) and Kayak (sitting in the boat with two paddle blades). I like both boats the same. 

I started paddling at Symonds Yat in the Forest of Dean aged 10.  I’ve always loved anything to do with water!   My coach, Mike Mitchell, has always encouraged me to go for it on big water.  I’ve been lucky to have him.

I enjoy it because we travel to loads of different places around the country and every river and water course is different.  My favourite watercourse is the Olympic course in Lee Valley as the water is big and unpredictable.  I am excited to race in Europe for the first time this summer. 

I am British champion in both race categories.
