OUR AMBASSADOR
Nikki Bartlett was born and raised in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire and she went to Cheltenham Bournside school and Sixth form centre.
At school Nikki enjoyed all the sports available but really enjoyed 400m, 800m and hockey. When she left school she went to the University of Birmingham to study Sport and Physical Education and came away with a First Class Honours degree!! Whilst at university, Nikki learnt to row and represented GB at the European University championships twice, where she won silver and bronze medals. Then, Nikki trialled at the Girls for Gold initiative in 2008 and was fast tracked onto the GB Rowing World Class Start system. Plagued with injuries she tried a triathlon whilst taking some time away from rowing. She loved it! So in 2012 she converted from rowing to triathlon....as a complete novice in the sport and couldn't even swim! |
Over the next four years she secured many age group wins including European Age Group champion. So, in 2016 Nikki decided it was time to become a professional triathlete so she stopped her part time job working in sports PR.
Since then, Nikki has been enjoying an amazing career. Testament to her hard work and dedication to the sport, she has stood on 22 podiums since turning professional! Some of her best results to date include:
9th at the Ironman World championships 2021
Gold medal at Ironman Lanzarote 2019
Gold medal at Ironman Dunloaghaire 70.3 2021
4th at the Paralympic Games as a Guide in 2021
In 2011 Nikki was named Gloucestershire Media Sports Personality of the Year and we are not surprised!
We are so delighted that Nikki is bringing her huge amounts of energy and enthusiasm to our small grass roots charity, which she said would have benefitted her greatly when she was growing up and so she completely understands our ethos and what we are trying to achieve.
