SCARLETT'S BIOGRAPHY
Hi my name is Scarlett I am 12 years old and I love running, especially cross country.
I have been running since I was 5 years old, taking part in parkruns and running trails with my mum around Bredon Hill near where I live. My first successful competitive season came in 2019/20 when I won year 5 Schools County Cross Champion, and was set to take part in the English Schools championship when we all went in to lockdown. Two years later and things are almost back to normal, it is my first year in the under 13’s and to date my best success has been 10th in the Midlands Regional Cross Country Championships. I have just been struck down with my first ever injury and it has been hard to sit on the side while my friend’s race. Having qualified for the schools County Cross Country Championship again I hope I will have recovered enough to take part and qualify for the English Schools again. .

As part of my training I swim for Evesham Swimming Club, this gives me an overall fitness training and enables me to take part in Triathlons. Last year, despite COVID I was able to take part in two triathlons and a Duathlon series coming 4th in each event – missing 3rd by 0.1 second in one of the triathlons, so frustrating!
My aim this year is to have my first season on the athletics track for Cheltenham Harriers and see if I can increase my speed on shorter distances. Hopefully this will sit alongside some road races as well as some more Duathlon’s and Triathlons, which will leave me stronger for next season's cross country. I am so excited to be supported by CASS & Friends, there are so many athletes to look up to and learn from. |
