MILLIE'S BIOGRAPHY
Hi, my name is Millie Short, I am 13 years old and I am a boxer. I have only been boxing for 20 months (since I was 11), and only started competing 16 months ago when I was 12. When I was younger I did karate, dance and gymnastics, but I never really enjoyed them as much as boxing.
I decided to try boxing when I was 11 because my brother had been boxing since he was 4, and I wanted to just go and give it a try. Ever since I went to the gym, I just wanted to keep going back. In March 2019, after only training for 10 months, and only competing for 6 months I entered the national schools championships. I won the midlands title, and then I went on to the national stage of the competition and achieved bronze. |
Before and after the championships, I competed in various bouts/sparring up and down the country.
This season I will enter the national schools championships again, aiming for gold to get on the England talent pathway which would also give me the possibility to compete in the three nations and maybe follow on to the Europeans. In the future, I aim to earn an England vest and get onto team GB podium squad. I hope one day to be able to represent team GB in the Olympics. I would like to say a big thank you to CASS and friends for their interest and support of my dream. |
