ISAAC'S BIOGRAPHY
I am Isaac Henderson, I am 14. The first event I remember doing was a scootathlon (scoot, bike, run) at Eton Dorney, which I did when I was about 5, since then I have entered lots of races ranging from running track and cross country to swimming both in the pool and open water, and triathlon.
I have always enjoyed running particularly around the hills near my home often with my dog. This helped drive my success in cross country where I have been to the English Schools Nationals three times, my best result being tenth and the Gloucestershire team coming third. This year I came first in the Gloucestershire Cross Country series coming 1st, 2nd and 2nd in the races. On the track, I have been working on improving my 1500m time, recently getting under 4:30 for the first time. Short term, I hope to come in the top 20 in the English Schools Cross Country and try out some longer distance races. I have been running with Cheltenham and County Harriers for 7 years but only in the last 2 or 3 years have I started specific endurance training with Andy Beadle, where I have been inspired to discover how good I can be. |
In 2017 I joined Cheltenham Phoenix Aquatics Club. Last year I achieved County times; and hopefully with good training I will be able to get to Regionals in the next couple of years. Swimming has helped my running as it helps my fitness. I prefer open water swimming because it gives you more freedom.
In the past I have mostly entered triathlons just for fun, as I have no specific cycling training. I have won a number of local events and hope to compete in the regional series next year. With both my running and swimming developing well, I am keen to focus more on cycling in order to achieve more success in triathlon. I am thankful to CASS & Friends for including me in their program, and hope with their guidance I can compete at the next level. Ultimately, I would love to go to a top sporting University and have opportunities to continue my training and maybe one day compete for England! |
