CHLOE SHEPPARD'S BIOGRAPHY
Hi, my name is Chloe Sheppard and I am a competitive rower for Hartpury College. I have been rowing for almost a year without any previous experience in the sport. Prior to rowing I was both a competitive athlete and swimmer. I have been involved in sport my whole life. I got into rowing by applying to join the World Class Start Program and being successful in a range of tests to identify future potential.
Throughout Covid restrictions I started to train on the RowErg as part of a strength and conditioning programme and realised I was quite good and enjoyed the sport. Before joining the programme I competed in the Welsh Indoor Rowing Championships over 2000m which I won, this gave me the confidence to want to pursue a career in rowing and see how far I could take it. I've recently moved up to group D on the World Class Start Program which has been a goal of mine since I started, I passed all skills required with an 80% pass on the water. |
I am hooked on and love the Single Scull as I like the control you have and the requirement to be as technically efficient as possible. Recently I have been given the opportunity to race in Crew Boats and had instant success in the Pairs at Monmouth Regatta. Over the summer months I have also been part of a crew in the Quad which is exciting and very fast.
My future in rowing is really exciting as I’m learning at a rapid rate and hungry for success. I’m keen to get in as much technical work, strength training and racing as possible and hopefully be picked to compete in the crew boats for big races such as Henley Regatta and the British Championships. My ultimate dream would be to progress through the Start Programme and gain selection for GBR Juniors at Europeans and Worlds before moving into the Senior Squad and Rowing in the Olympics. My goals are definitely achievable and I’m excited to see how quickly I can progress now I’m guided by the best coaches at Hartpury and how far I can take my dream. |
