AIMEE'S BIOGRAPHY
Hi my name is Aimee Lane, I'm 12 years old and I've enjoyed all sorts of sport since I was 8 years old. It started with me cycling around Greenhill on my bike with my dad, he could see I really enjoyed it so he bought me a road bike and took me up Hipton hill.
After climbing Hipton I then rode up Fish hill a few weeks later. I then started cycling with my dad on longer rides covering all sorts of distances. We also started cycling with the local cycle club on club rides. I joined Evesham Vale Triathletes in 2013, I competed in the inter club duathlon and came 1st. I've since competed in 2 others, in which I've finished 2nd over all, 1st girl & 1st over all in the duathlon held by Worcester Tri Club EVT and Energy Tri Club at Stourport. I started running after playing around on my dads running machine, when he saw that I could run at the top speed very comfortably he started to take me over to Cheltenham park run. I've just completed my 100th park run in Evesham with my PB being 21:45 for 5k, which I'm very proud of. I've run for my school at District & County levels. This November I finished 1st in my district cross-country, which means I'm now being entered into the county running along side the next year group (Year 9's). I joined the Evesham swimming club when I was 10. I'd not really swum before, but as my grandad (Keith lane) was a good triathlete I'd thought I'd give it a go. I've had some lessons with Richard Goode (of Goode2Swim), improving my swim technique. I'm hoping to enter a triathlon this coming year to bring my favourite sports together. |
My biggest passion in sport has to be cycling, I'm a member of Wyre Forest CRC along with other clubs. I have competed in many close circuit races, winning series in Lichfield, Stourport and Shrewsbury. My biggest achievement has been my 2 year running regional championship for the West Midlands, I was just 12 in the under 14's and I'm now riding the velodrome which I really enjoy, and gaining experience and confidence and racing better every time I'm entered.
I really enjoy raising money for charity and have recently raised more than £300 for Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance by helping to run two Wattbike taster classes with my mentor, Helen Russell. I was nominated into the RSR (Regional School of Racing) by my club & because of my achievements in cycling I'm coached by GB coaches in Milton Keynes, with my next session in February next year. I've also competed in inter club TT's in distances of both 10 and 16 miles, and I hope to enter in many more next year. I'm really pleased that I chose to do sport, and I'm really proud of myself for achieving this much already, I hope my training will lead to further achievements. I currently train 13 hours a week. |
