LUCAS CLARK-SAVAGE'S BIOGRAPHY

Hi I'm Lucas Clark-Savage, I'm 15 years old and I compete in hammer throwing.

I started throwing the hammer in January 2025, and it's become a huge part of my life. Before athletics, I was a boxer and became the Western Counties Champion. Unfortunately after being diagnosed with Marfan syndrome, I had to stop boxing. It was a difficult time, but discovering hammer throwing gave me a new challenge and a new passion. From my very first training session, I knew I'd found the sport loved. 

In just over a year I've achieved more than I ever imagined. I'm the Gloucestershire County Hammer Champion, I've qualified for the English Schools Championships and the British Championships, and I've thrown a personal best of 53.83m which is above the national qualifying standard. I'm incredibly fortunate to be coached by two-time Olympian Lorraine Shaw, whose knowledge, experience and encouragement inspire me to keep improving every day.

My dream is to represent England and Great Britain and my ultimate goal is to compete at the Olympic Games. I know that will take years of hard work and dedication, but I'm prepared to give everything I can to achieve it​

When I'm not training or competing, you'll usually find me in the gym trying to get stronger and faster, out hiking with my friends or spending time with my dogs. In September, I hope to begin studying A Levels in Biology, Environmental Science and Geography at Hartpury College, where I have also been accepted to join the Athlete Performance Programme. I'm excited to continue developing both as a student and as an athlete.

The support from Cass and Friends means so much to me and my family. Hammer is an expensive sport, with travel, competitions, specialist equipment and physio (because if my condition) all playing a big part in my development. Their support will help me make the most of every opportunity to train and compete, continue progressing towards my goals and give me the best chance of achieving my dream of representing England and Great Britain on the biggest stage. I'm incredibly grateful to everyone at CASS & Friends for believing in me and becoming part of my journey.
