AMBER KINGHORN'S BIOGRAPHY
|
Hello, my name is Amber Kinghorn, and I am a 16-year-old swimmer for Gloucester city swimming club. Alongside Swimming, I also compete for Hartpury college Netball team and play for Challenger’s netball club. I started swimming competitively when I was 9 years old, first swimming for Tewkesbury swimming club and for the past two years at Gloucester City Swimming Club (GCSC).
Last season I competed in both English winter championships and English summer championships at national level. I found this a fantastic opportunity, and I was fortunate enough to come 4th in England in 50m backstroke. During the Summer event this year, I also swam 100m and 200m backstroke during the 5 days. My favourite competition of the year however is Gloucestershire County championships where I get to compete against my closest rivals and last season, I achieved senior and overall County champion in the 200bk after having been 50 and 100bk junior champion in 2023. . |
I swim regularly for the Gloucestershire County team and train approximately 15 hrs a week, plus 4 hrs in the gym. My Netball training schedule includes 2 training sessions and on average 2 matches a week.
Whilst Swimming and Netball are my main sports, In my spare time I’ve done other activities, including County Athletics and representing Hereford and Worcestershire County at the English Schools National Cross-Country event in Nottingham. My ultimate dream would be to progress my swimming to compete at British championships and potentially have the opportunity to compete Internationally with the GB team. I look forward to working with CASS & Friends and all the extra support they will provide to allow me to compete to be the best I can be. Thank you, CASS & Friends. |
